History of LAIT

The Los Angeles Ice Theater was established in January 2001 by Danelle Cole. Theater on Ice provides high quality performances and opportunities for figure skaters to perform and express themselves through dance, theater and music.

Theater on Ice combines ice dancing, synchronized skating, jumps, and spins with drama and music to tell a story, or express an emotion or idea. In Europe, it is known as Ballet on Ice.

In 2011, U.S Figure Skating (USFSA) officially sanctioned Theater on Ice as a competitive discipline. As Theater on Ice increases in popularity, Los Angeles Ice Theater will be at the forefront of the discipline's growth. "Theater on Ice is one way to let every skater feel they can set their own goals and be successful with their skating. This sport opens the door to all levels and abilities," says Danelle Cole (Director of LAIT).

Los Angeles Ice Theater is affiliated with the Los Angeles Figure Skating Club. The team members practice throughout the year at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, CA to appear in public performances as well as national and international competitions, which are promoted under the auspices of US Figure Skating.
